Working

Soon I will work in a totally diferent atmosphere as I will leave belgium for two months to return to the family in Peru. Also my still growing room where I create many of the 'el dibujo del gato-drawings', I will say goodbye for that period. Time to re-inspirate myself. Although, before leaving, still some things to finish, like a poster for a festival in our very charming street.

Toulouse

The name of my blog isn't just some name. My love for cats in general is huge. May'be I was a cat in another life, may'be my name isn't coincidence, may'be I will return as a cat in a next life, who knows? This is Toulouse, the cat from our neighbours...she is very charming like all the cat-creatures and inspires me every day!

For a little boy

I was working the whole afternoon on the marvellous machine of my mom to finish this gift for the newborn son of a friend.I'm so crazy now to do this more, so after the huge vacation I think it's time to go and boy a machine like that so that I can make more funny shirts like this one. Visitors, let me know what you think of it as it is my first one I've ever made. I really appreciate all your comments whenever they come to me!...Thanks x Kathy

Dank je wel lieve mama voor het lenen van jouw super-machine, jouw mooie garen en je geduld met mij... :)

Historious dogs

Very little time to draw these days although I'm very busy with teaching art to my 'little ones', like I did today. Better then a bad drawing of me is a marvellous drawing of one of these little ones of 8 years old! Still they are not finished 'the dogs' but with this action of giving them a body in an historious theme it seems to me that we will have such a funny result!
More work from my little students? Watch THIS!

Flamenco-legs! Piernas de flamenco!

Yesterday was a world full of flamenco, horses, churros, paella, and lots of dancing shoes between the smell of fried fish and chicken, overwhelmed by the minted flavour of thousand mojitos...what a world, what a sunday...all that to forget that boring morning of european elections!...Viva la feria Andaluza! Muchas gracias a nuestros queridos amigos S. y J. para esta tarde tan bonito y ...rrrico!

I'm just searching my way in drawing and painting over 'gesso'. It feels very good but still I'm not 100% happy with my results...to detailistic just doesn't work on that surface... but one thing is sure...she is so wild of the cherry's she bought today...she's craving for it!

Adapt

The result of global warming on our cats at home...
These days don't know what's happening, I cannot use sunny colors, although the sun is here everyday, I cannot draw bigger than this little one...I' m stucked in my head from too many work, a too busy year...I need very urgent a huge break. The good news is that just that break is coming very soon and that my inspiration will grow a hundred miles faster a day once it will be July... My apologizes for my poor blogging and although thanks for them who write me all the time such nice words! Thanks a lot!

Between Rio and Paris

I cannot think away of that disaster that happend with the flight that didn't arrived this morning in Paris coming from Rio. The more I think, the more I am imagining what happend and what's happening now on this moment. Are there still some peoples alive? Can somebody hear or see them?... It makes me feel soooo cold...

For all those families who are hit by this terrible flight.

Hats in the park

Today we celebrated our parks...not some national parks, because there aren't almost some of them overhere in Flanders but just our city-parks that gives us some nature-feeling between all the bricks. In the city close where I grewed up they organize every year a huge festival with theater and puppets -animation. Together we made these heads of some brown paper...just so a simple idea but with lots of possibilities! My stork is so happy above his head!

A boy...

This is the final bookplate that I made for the boy as a gift from his parents. It' all inspired on the love for reading and more special the books from Sylvia Vanden Heede with drawings from Thé Tjong Khing : Vos en Haas. (Fox and Hazel).
Where you can sea 'een lezende jongen' (a reading boy) there is written the name and surname of the boy. So from today on he can start personalizing all his books with my designed bookplates. I really hope he will like it...

A box...

Since many time I made a box again from some nice papers. I LOVE to make my own books or boxes with all kinds of delightfull papers I have stocked in my room or that I buy. This one is a surprise for a young boy. Inside the box he will have his own bookplates, we call them 'ex-libris', to personalize all his books. His mum had a great idea and she asked me to make that special gift for her son.
The bookplate you will find here soon... ;)

Contagious

Since some days ants are ruling our house! At specific hours the queens and the drones fly away
from their nest and fly against the door that gives entry to the garden...they have to go in the air to make more ande more and more ants!
...The house is filling up with all of them! My personal contagious disease / disaster...
Any tips to make them move from our little peacefull house?

Baby K

Since yesterday the zoo of Antwerp is waiting for the final birth of the first elephant ever born in here in Belgium. Everybody who wants can watch live to the mother and te rest of the family who are expecting their baby on : http://www.baby-olifant.be/
The zoo promised that every belgian family will receive a babycard, designed by a child, when the little one has born...so I'm really hoping for that! This is my interpretation of the future elephant...he will be the first elephant-king of Belgium...
She or he will have a name beginning with 'K'. The mother is an asian elephant so the name has to be asian-orientated. 'K'athy isn't that asian I guess :) Any suggests?

Pattern 'Pollo'

Tomorrow I have to teach lesson with a link to fashion. So, I'm very crazy of making stamps as I am a graphic-girl. I start thinking and the wonderfull blog of Lara Brehm inspired me to try making patterns with stamps on textile and later on create something out of that piece of hand-printed textile. But so far, never give a lesson without trying it yourself ;). This one I tried very fast with a drawing of some chicken-kind things and some clicks in Photoshop. Now straight to the pupils...:)

Parade

I still have to remind those easter-evenings in Alghero, Sardinia.
The candles in the hands of elderly woman, the bands playing a dramatic melody, they left me speechless...
Todavia recuerdo estas noches de Semana Santa en Alghero, Sardegna.
Las velas en las manos de las mujeres, las bandas tocando una melodia dramatica, todo eso me ha dejado sin palabras...

Time flies...and I played like a whole week with this Illustration-Friday-theme in my head...I couldn't think away from the huge animal that would be dominated by a stupid thiny mouseman...so this is that. That's the way I dreamed it... :)

the time to upload new images on another blog of me.

I try to show them how brightfull you can color your life... :) in all kinds of senses. Enjoy their work, their smiles, their creations made by hands between 6 and 8 years old !

Making cards

Yesterday a birth, tomorrow a wedding...time to design my own cards.
I really enjoy to make some layout and see them as prints. Lots of my drawings I never printed before. Choosing a right paper, thick enough to stand on his own...nice to do and it gives me a lot of ideas...
