Painful jump

My poor little boy. He is such an explorer...and he took a bad decision to jump like a wild one into the basement. There was waiting a broken vase and she wanted to cut his leg as deep as she could!
Blood on the floor, blood on the door, blood in the bathroom...what an adventure! And this is the way the jump resulted. A collar and 3 staples in his leg...[AUW]...like we say when we feel pain...how do cats (and human) say 'auw' in other languages? Tell me! :)

Anyway Dalí is doing well...just some 6 days more to go with this collar. :(

One day of vacation

Baked sunday #1

Calm weather outside, nothing special, inside still the christmas tree, and lights and angels, stars and other little things that gives me a smile and make me feel happy to be home. Made these 'Alfajores', Peruvian cookies filled with 'Manjar Blanco', a delicious cream homemade in the valley where my man comes from...so easy and sooooo good. The last calories of this weekend...but surely not from this year! :)

Winter

Baby-gift

Holiday time! So again time for other things then preparing lessons or giving workshops, running for my train, laughing with the kids and creating together with them. Time for myself, although...started this little piece that will be a gift for a newborn little girl in NYC. As you can see I'm assisted by my little black one, Dalí :) He's not very helpful and not so critical...he likes everything I do if he can lay down somewhere around me. Such a sweet little pie!

Preparing my cards to send into the wide world! Happy I've made it before Christmas :)

The north

This isn't Belgium, but just some 200 km to the north from where we live. We went for a little weekend to Amsterdam and his surroundings, like this incredible lovely fisherman's town Nieuwendam. I felt in love with it!!! I imagined I was walking in an even more northern village like I discovered one day in Norway!!! This is so close and so different! Amsterdam is just breathtaking in wintertime!

Preparing Christmas...in color!

Some while ago I made this little white figures out of airdrying-clay with cookie-cut-outs of Ikea. :) We are coming into Christmas-mode/mood, so I prepared them to hang into the tree.
Dalí can't turn off his curiosity of all those things and worser...the tree with all kind of things in it!
Also a detail of the wonderful table runner my love brought it as a gift for me from his country. I'm in love with it...such kind of creativity!!! The green box is another gift since years from Tynni and I thought it's made in the Asian world. That's the best needle and thread-box in my world! :)

Time to start designing christmas cards, go searching a lovely tree, bringing the atmospehere to our house...the last month of 2010. Let's enjoy these days like never before!

Workshop Relief printing with Stencils

Take a look at the proces at the ' woodblock print + printing with stencils - workshop', I followed today in my own academy, teached by my colleague Goedele Peeters.
After missing the Workshop given by Susan Goethel Campbell from Detroit, USA, luckily I could join this 'afterparty' with the same techniques.
This was just a briljant day...glad to experienced this new island in the printing world!
Cutting some copies, bringing ink onto woodblocks, pasting the stencils on the wood and start printing and playing with all kind of possibilities...and in the end adding some finishing touch with a brush and parts of stencils. aaaw...love it!!!

How would it feel to be at the same moment in two different worlds?
I'm living these days with some kind of this emotion.
Days are very cold and dark here, overthere it is warm and bright!
Worlds can help each other, a world can help me surviving the other one, a world can hold me down of enjoying the other one...it's late, I'm tired, I'm missing him!

As a kind of ritual I made these bags for all the gifts my garden left to me. That way they will stay dry and fresh to give them all a life next spring! But that is still long to go...I'm ready for the winter! And you?

After a whole day in a clinical landscape for a very short surgery I'm so glad to can go back home...receive the warmth and love of my two men and make some delicious muffins to tell them how I need them and how lucky we are to be healthy and happy ever after.
