Space is were we belong

After more then 3 months I guess I returned to my drawing table and  that feels so good!
It was a very hard time, there wasn't yet a spring, the world was like turning in the other direction...I said farewell to my grandfather, he is now somewhere....not to far from us I think. While drawing this there was that song on the radio of Absynthe Minded, a belgian group, 'Space is were we belong'. That makes me thinking that even the dead isn't that worse. Life is good and so this drawing to finish a long period of pain, tears and awfull thoughts.
I'm gratefull for this life and I want to give you these words that I founded through Pinterest :
On the other side of fear lies freedom.
Enjoy this week, your days, this life!

Diary France #1

Welcome back everyone!
I feel reloaded but also a little bit sad that I had to return homewards.
The blue ocean, the fresh wind, the little strong coffees, the more then delicious 'crêpes' and 'galettes' and of course the gallons of 'cidre' made us feeling sooo happy and 'full' :)This week I want to try to publish every day some flashback from this little journey to Bretagne and Normandy in France! Hope you can feel the wind blowing!
Enjoy! Back to work now;)
♥
Disfrutalo! Otra vez trabajo ahora ;)

Playtime

The drawings are finished for a little book about a family Christmas tradition and I'm happy with it! It's not the time of the year to talk about Christmas but I wanted to share this after all the socks I showed before. Also this image you could see on a post when I was working on it. This is the final version.
You like it?

And for now...I'm taking a little blogbreak.
See you all back on monday, enjoy the weekend and be good to each other...
love makes life so worthful to live for!

Happy Mama!

I was thinking on a kind of self-portrait to do, me,
like a Peruvian mother with her cat-child.
That turned out like I wanted, but the paper I used to fill the dress made it all together with the black hair very Japanese. I don't mind that. All the different cultures mixed up in one little drawing...looks fine to me...and more important, my mum loved it!
Happy Mother's Day to all the mums in the world!!!

Vino y vida / Wine and life

Last weekend we really enjoyed this bottle of wine! And for me most important on a bottle of wine is the label that it wears. I really don't know too much of 'good' wines but 'good' labels, yes, that's my part of interest! This one is a handmade paper with just that printed flower covered by a shiny layer...and a little embossing, but that disappeared while peeling off the bottle with a lot of hot water. May'be I can make a set and heading for another bottle. They sell also the white 'Vida orgánica' :) (Chardonnay)
That's good for another weekend!

Jingle sock

No, I'm not losing my mind by drawing like crazy socks in all different stages and behaviours. But I wanted to share these ones while working and finishing a Christmas project. It's all so exciting to do, to draw, to see growing the story and images and above all to give life to a dream.
Sounds sooo creamy but it's all so nice to live for!

No estoy dibujando medias asi nomas, parece que me he vuelto loquita :)
Solo queria compartir estos dibujitos mientras que estoy trabajando y finalizando a un proyecto de Navidad. Es bonito para hacer, para dibujar y para ver que es possible realizar un sueño.
Estoy feliz de poder hacer lo que me gusta!

My Heroes / 2

As I promised to start drawing all my heroes! Here is the first male! And who said that heroes cannot have a cat? :) Roald Amundsen is one of my biggest heroes after all I guess...after Darwin! He was a Norwegian explorer of Polar regions. Imagine, he was the leader of the first expedition to the South Pole! What a men! And more, he had something with my country! He was first mate on the Belgian Antarctic expedition to the South Pole leaded by Adrian de Gerlache on the ship with the marvellous name...Belgica. The crew had to endure a winter there on that ship. What a story! I love it!
I was always crazy of exploring, travelling and extremes.
Does my hero mean something to you or what are yours? :)

My Heroes / 1

Here is my new heroine! HYPATIA is her name. Never heard about her until some days ago while watching the movie Agora of the Spanish-Chilean director Amenábar. With those kind of movies I always make a little jump inside because of the wonderfull dresses in those times. From the Greek until the Victorians! Still dreaming of wearing one someday!
But my Hypatia...she was like the first astronomer and notable woman in mathematics! There is so much to know about her...and in the end killed by some men who couldn't resist that women knew more then them! May'be I have to start to make some more portraits of my other heroines! Many of them were killed by awfull men...but I also have some huge heroes! Worth trying to draw I guess...:) Don't know if Hypatia liked cats, but in my world all my heroes had a cat :)

Dead or alive?

Sometimes very little things can made my day...it can be the smallest thing on earth that makes me feel living for 200%!
This morning when I arrived in the museum where I am working I discovered finally the butterfly that was flying high in the printing-room since some days. These rooms are in a medieval building with very high walls and windows, so high that I couldn't catch the poor animal and give it his freedom.
When I came back there after the weekend, there wasn't any butterfly anymore. This morning I tried the printing machine by the hugh wheel and almost I crushed him with my enormous feet!!! There he was!

Closed with his wings, black and very sad! I was so happy to find him, took it with a lot of care to the garden and gave him some green leaves to sit down. The little poor butterfly opened his wings very slowly and tried some times to move them again...it was soooo sad to see. He looked like an old airplane that doesn't function well anymore! I was so sad but fascinated...while I prepaired my workshop I was running every minute outside to see him back. Again the wings were closed...he was totally ill of beiing in that room for several days with the smell of those horrible liquids we use to etch! I could take some lovely photographs of this kind of butterfly...he watched me and opened his wings...he made me sooooo happy...and at noon there wasn't any butterfly more in the garden...I hope he found his freedom!!!

What a beginning of this Earth Day!!!

Chocolate - madness

Like every year time had come to taste the delicious chocolate-eggs...bought myself one package of dark eggs and could bring them into my tummy in less then one day I guess.
Easter passed and so the chocolate is gone. Anyway, still there is a package of white chocolate for my husband...but not one finger will touch them :), if it isn't dark then I'm save.

The making of a 'gato'-drawing: #2

It resulted in a very personal drawing. The girl was painted with watercolours as usual, love it to use the shades, as a fact I always loved watercolours since I was a little girl! The clouds were cutted out of some pattern paper and I gave them a red shadow with that pencil that gives always colour to the cheeks of my personalities. Into the clouds you can find that special date of my first arrive in Perú, and the name of my 'gato' ;). The third cloud, tells the whole story ! I cannot without him and I cannot think of losing him...that's the story of my little ring that I lost almost.
And this is the place where all my drawings are finishing...on a new post in this blog...that gives me so muuuch energy, creativity and power to go for it...all thanks to your comments and patience to give this blog a view, a life! Thanks to all of you! ♥ Kathy
