Alicia in Rhubarbland

A brand new book I bought in Barcelona to have the Spanish version for my little niece Claudia in Perú. Alice in Wonderland, illustrated by my favourite illustrator, Rebecca Dautremer, what a wonderland!!! BREATHTAKING! In my case it is rather Dalí in Wonderland, he loves all the things I love, let's see he will tastes my rhubarb-pie...

Zarzamora-time

Love the word : Zarzamora. It sounds like it tastes...superdelicious!
Meanwhile I'm still guiding around my parents-in-law here in Belgium and nearby. I took them to my favourite forest of the region where we are living and they loved it! Unfortunately I forgot my camera. While we were picking berries a man came to us with a flower bouquet and told me to give them to that young girl overthere, my mother-in-law. She was so honoured and delighted with the flowers and the compliment of that little old men. :) mmm, even Flemish forests can still surprise one. Home, I made marmalade of the little sweeties and made two little jars especially for my nieces Claudia and Milene in Peru. Hope they will like this flavor!

They draw and travel

My contribution for the contest of the sister site of They Draw and Cook ------>They Draw and travel. Since ages I wanted to draw the homeland of my husband with all those treasures...and still I didn't putted them all on it...but it's the beginning may'be of more maps ;)

Barcelona-doodle

The view out of our room in Barcelona, linda Barcelona!
We came all the way down trough Paris, the central part of France and crossed the border to Spain until this city. The second time we were here but still not enough for me :)
Now it's time to go, to travel more and back to the north. Again through France but now the more western part...mmmm! Here we come!

Vacation@HOME

If you were wondering where I was hanging out or what I was drawing in the meanwhile? Here is the answer. My Peruvian parents-in-law arrived to Belgium last week and I was very busy showing them this little piece of Europe. Every day is a new adventure and also for me it's a kind of experience seeiing my country through their eyes. We are heaving a briljant time together but I can't get myself to my drawingtable these days. After this first week Belgium, time to discover more of Europe! VAMOS!

From A to Z

Starting a new project with all the letters of the alphabet...from A to Z, for kids under 6 years. This is a first trial...and error :) before starting for real making a huge book.
Hope I can count on your comments and thoughts while travelling through this new adventure!

At his best

Some shots from my week! A garden at his best, apple-evelopes at his best for the kids from the academy to wish them a really deserved vacation, a performer (Juan Luis Guerra) at his best on a Belgium stage after ages (also Calle 13 was heavy to see them performing Live! so happy we were part of the public!) and a little Moleskine that will be part of The Sketchbook Project 2010 World Tour...I have to fill it up with drawings so that it can become part of the Brooklyn Art Library where it will be exhibited to the public...at his best!

Weekend-exhibition | Drongen

Last weekend my work was exposed in a very nice old building that once was the 'colorfactory' of the village named Drongen, near Gent. I was invited by Stefanie De Graef , a briljant illustrator and the grandchild of the man who started this factory long time ago. Fascinating place to show my work, upon the old bricks! Together with 4 other artists/photographers/painters, we had a lovely weekend and received lots of enthousiastic comments on our work! This was the second time I placed my work in front of a public and it tastes so good! Valentina ofcourse was there too and soon I want to start with a man or cat to join her :)
Looking forward to more exhibition with more (new) work !

PRINTS

From now on I can proudly offer you PRINTS of my watercolors. You choose & I print!
There are already some of them spread over the world and Belgium...and they are living happily ever after in their new homes ;).
I print them on MONTVAL Aquarelle - textured paper (310g/m²)and they get numbered and hand signed.
All prints are carefully packed in a cello sleeve and a cardboard envelope.

Sorrel-daydream

As I wanted since weeks or may'be months. Starting to work on wood and not to grow into my watercolour-paper. I gave it a try...with Gesso, and acrylics and even my watercolors and pencils...wooow! This evening was perfect. Kate Bush in the background, heavy wind outside, Dalí afraid of that wind and napping and a warm milk with honey to drink.
In two weeks my parents-in-law will travel to Europe and are coming over to visit us, may'be that's the inspiration for the theme of this drawing. The leave-trees are inspired on the 'sorrel' (zurkel in flemish) growing in my garden. Incredible textures and colour they have!
A very nice weekend to all of you and stay dreaming...because really every dream comes true one day, just wait that one day!For them who love to see behind the drawing/painting, these pics ;)

Afternoon

Inspired on my little chinese porcelain cup I love to use for a coffee to get out the afternoon-blues. Me (drawing), my coffee (and one, two, three, to much biscuits!) and resting Dalí (somewhere in the house)...a perfect thursday-afternoon.

Painting...the toilet

Thought it was time to give the place we visit everyday a new look.
The green stayed the same, but the brown-green with branches and flowers made the new view! Now we will spend even more time here then in the other rooms of the house :)? Working on it between the busy days on my academies.

Every evening the sun enters the living room...straight upon our blue wall she lays herself down on the Peruvian embroidered carpet and brings me some incredible intimate light-show :)

Mijn eerste publicatie in een Vlaams tijdschrift : Libelle Lekker!
Een uitscheurbare pagina speciaal voor de 'kleine chefs', maar ook de iets grotere natuurlijk! Heerlijk om te doen en hopelijk zet het de lezer(tjes) aan om zelf deze heerlijke 'plat' te bereiden!
Mijn inspiratie is duidelijk op de eerste foto, het resultaat werd dan ook onder de loep genomen en goedgekeurd :)

A new month with a new adventure!
My first publication in a Flemish magazine about food and cooking fun.
A double page with the preparation of a recipe especially for the 'little chefs' and the bigger ones too ofcourse!
I enjoyed drawing this en hope the readers will try to cook this delicious plate!
My inspiration is obvious on the first pic, the result passed his critical eye and it's approved! :)
