Dolls from paper and love

Dear friends,
I'm still alive, still.
These months I'm feeling like doing the best to not drown in the bath of work and deadlines. I'm doing the best I can, I'm enjoying the work I do but my mental mood and spirit is suffering a bit.
The best thing is that I really love my different jobs, just combining all of them can take sometimes too much energy. Look, I'm drawing paperdolls inspired on images made in the 17th century. Love to do that and sure  if you know that soon kids will can take their piece of paperdoll-paper in the museum and go colouring and cutting the dolls designed by me. Soon more, and also about that globe of Mercator.
Promise you to don't stay away too long from my beloved blog. Have to tell so much more!
Don't forget this place, I'm still here on the globe :)
You too I hope!
Kathy

El gato Frank

Last week I joined a workshop 'making your own puppet' in the workplace of Theater Froefroe in Antwerp. First I thought to make a girl like those ones I'm used to draw but suddenly she turned out into a cat and she became more HE :) With a block of foam, scissors, cutters and strong glue we started creating our 'thing'. Yesterday I took my creation to the kids of my saturday-class and they gave him the name Frank. Why Frank is a very good question! Zappa? Stella? Ghery? Anyway...don't try to guess. There are kids for! :) I will try from now to use our 'Frank' to tell them about painters, artists and creators from all over. :) When Frank is talking they are so quiet ;)))

Classes for kids

This doodle is one of the examples how I'm preparing lessons for the kids at the academy. Love to doodling with the tablet...and that way my idea can grow on and on.

Guiding time!

Again! (See other post about this theme here) Time to guide for RASA vzw and see above the lovely location where I can do this for almost two weeks long like three times a day. Inside it isn't that original anymore but on the first floor there is a wonderful room to give space to art objects and more. Just perfect. I'm happy to receive the kids in this part of the country and to show them a new world of ...art.

A new job / Un nuevo trabajo

Since this week I started as freelancer for the Rasa project. Rasa is an organisation that brings art-education to a very young audience. 7 Belgian artists are showing a masterpiece to the children, they will explore a new world with new materials, I'm guiding them trough the exposition and afterwards they can create their own masterpiece in the same room. It's so lovely to do, to guide them, to talk about art with children, to give them a new view on this huge world and the world of art in all of us!
Above you can see work from : Guy Rombouts , Lucie Renneboog and Tinka Pittoors

Animated kids / Niños animados

After I tried it by myself it's finally time to check it out with the kids on school. The puppets are ready and we tried our first animations together.
For the result we need some more lessons, but when it's finished I will show it here and of course on my other blog : El dibujo del niño, where I put the results of my weekly sessions on school, have fun watching them, comments are very welcome overthere.
