Delicious dreams

How good life can be realizing you can do what you love to do.
Drawing a dream, enjoying a delicious meal and talking about a nearby future
with brand new friends who share the same passion for this one life...somewhere in Ghent.
Hope you had a wonderful sunday too!

Olimpia & Dounia

Remember Olimpia, the cat of my friend Laura in Madrid. Laura wanted her four cats portraited by me as a gift on her wedding for all her family and friends. One year later Dounia, one of the girls from the fotoshoot I did tuesday, see picture down, dreamed of a pillow with the drawing of Olimpia. I designed one for my Envelop-shop, especially for her and everyone who loves this drawing, and so to thank me for all that she made this drawing inspired on my work. I truly LOVE this so much. It's so touching! Her mom started immediately to make a whole lay-out for tea-bags and cookies with her design. See her blogpost about it for more details HERE.
Such a funny and special gift!!! I went crazy for it and I stay crazy I guess! :)

Alicia in Rhubarbland

A brand new book I bought in Barcelona to have the Spanish version for my little niece Claudia in Perú. Alice in Wonderland, illustrated by my favourite illustrator, Rebecca Dautremer, what a wonderland!!! BREATHTAKING! In my case it is rather Dalí in Wonderland, he loves all the things I love, let's see he will tastes my rhubarb-pie...

Zarzamora-time

Love the word : Zarzamora. It sounds like it tastes...superdelicious!
Meanwhile I'm still guiding around my parents-in-law here in Belgium and nearby. I took them to my favourite forest of the region where we are living and they loved it! Unfortunately I forgot my camera. While we were picking berries a man came to us with a flower bouquet and told me to give them to that young girl overthere, my mother-in-law. She was so honoured and delighted with the flowers and the compliment of that little old men. :) mmm, even Flemish forests can still surprise one. Home, I made marmalade of the little sweeties and made two little jars especially for my nieces Claudia and Milene in Peru. Hope they will like this flavor!
(do you remember the drawing I made in the summer of 2010 about the Blackberry?
Find it HERE!)

Sorrel-daydream

As I wanted since weeks or may'be months. Starting to work on wood and not to grow into my watercolour-paper. I gave it a try...with Gesso, and acrylics and even my watercolors and pencils...wooow! This evening was perfect. Kate Bush in the background, heavy wind outside, Dalí afraid of that wind and napping and a warm milk with honey to drink.
In two weeks my parents-in-law will travel to Europe and are coming over to visit us, may'be that's the inspiration for the theme of this drawing. The leave-trees are inspired on the 'sorrel' (zurkel in flemish) growing in my garden. Incredible textures and colour they have!
A very nice weekend to all of you and stay dreaming...because really every dream comes true one day, just wait that one day!For them who love to see behind the drawing/painting, these pics ;)

Afternoon

Inspired on my little chinese porcelain cup I love to use for a coffee to get out the afternoon-blues. Me (drawing), my coffee (and one, two, three, to much biscuits!) and resting Dalí (somewhere in the house)...a perfect thursday-afternoon.

Turrones de Perú

As you know may'be. My heart lays in Perú and there are sooooo many things I love from overthere. Food, traditions, dances, music, art & so many more. But if there is one thing I'm not crazy of then it must be this sweet pie. Turrones de San Jose , the best you can get! My husband brought one with him in november and now he is enjoying every day of his treasure. I was pleased with the package...and a very small piece of it. It's very sweet and above all very dry.
Just not my piece of cake!

Baked sunday #1

Calm weather outside, nothing special, inside still the christmas tree, and lights and angels, stars and other little things that gives me a smile and make me feel happy to be home. Made these 'Alfajores', Peruvian cookies filled with 'Manjar Blanco', a delicious cream homemade in the valley where my man comes from...so easy and sooooo good. The last calories of this weekend...but surely not from this year! :)

I draw and cook

Thought it is interesting to show the different steps of the proces to illustrate this recipe.
Just sended it to theydrawandcook.com....and hoping they will like it.
If I think of rice and corn...mmmm...then I cannot wait anymore!
By the way, illustrating recipes brings so much FUN!

And in some minutes I've made this bookmark for my excellent Peruvian cooking book :
El arte de la cocina Peruana by Tony Custer.
And indeed, bookmarks too are so fun to create...mmm :)

Home Grown-Gato-Grapes

So proud to present you this bowl of little wonders made by nature. The first time I can eat my own grapes...small they are but sweet enough to make me happy and...hopefully they bring me back to the same old Kathy without any flue.

Sorry that my posts are coming lately, I'm resourcing myself, thinking about how to survive the coming winter ;)...organizing all my dreams and ideas.
Looking forward to sunday to find some peaceful moments of drawing.

Don't forget the little cat ;)

Back after all those party's!

Here I am again after a week without almost any drawing. It was sooo busy. Not only with work to do but even more things to celebrate. 17th of August we went to dinner and remembered our wedding day, already three years ago, the day after I was too lazy...( it's still vacation right here and today we started the LAST week of it! :) On thursday again a workshop in the museum...and on friday I was chasing giants in the city of Antwerp. Saturday again a delicious dinner at home of a cat-friend and sunday of course our big street-party with a workshop for kids in front of my house, a giant BBQ and the premiere of our beer Klaploper. A week full of nice happenings...and now back to zero on monday. Back to my drawingtable...I need it!
